Marylou Sudders joins Point32Health Foundation board

Former Mass. Health and Human Services Secretary brings unique public health perspective

CANTON, MA – March 16, 2023 – Point32Health Foundation welcomes Marylou Sudders, the Commonwealth’s longest serving Secretary of Health and Human Services, to its Board of Directors.

During her eight-year tenure, Sudders led the state’s COVID-19 Response Command Center; co-chaired the Governor’s Interagency Council on Aging and the Interagency Council on Housing and Homelessness; and chaired the Autism Commission and the board of Massachusetts Health Connector, the state’s health insurance marketplace.

“It is an honor to be collaborating with Point32Health Foundation’s extraordinary staff and board members to advance equity, particularly in the areas of healthy aging, behavioral health and food security,” said Marylou Sudders. “I look forward to advancing the great work of the Foundation and creating communities that thrive and support equitable aging for everyone.”

Secretary Sudders previously held leadership roles across the public and private sectors, including serving as the Massachusetts Commissioner of Mental Health, a non-profit CEO, and associate professor and program chair at Boston College School of Social Work, a top ten nationally ranked program.

Sudders holds a bachelor’s degree with honors and a master’s degree in social work from Boston University, and honorary doctorates from Boston University, the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology and Bridgewater State University.
